Heavy Duty Flexible Roller Conveyors

The flexible roller conveyor, commonly abbreviated as a flexible roller conveyor, is the most commonly used type of conveyor in the construction industry. This is because it is capable of handling heavy goods and can function well even under different working conditions. However, its flexibility also makes it vulnerable to a number of possible problems.

In the past, these types of conveyors were typically made from heavy duty steel or copper tubing. But changes in technology and better production processes have led to its use now being made from lightweight polyethylene plastic (LDPE). This plastic is also known to be environment friendly and therefore a popular choice for companies that want to reduce their carbon footprint. This type of flexible roller conveyor is usually manufactured by using rollers of varying sizes and configurations, each contributing to its particular strength and performance.

One problem faced by many companies manufacturing these types of roller conveyors is the contamination of the conveyor belts with dirt and grease. As a result, the cleaning process has to be regular and scheduled. To solve this, manufacturers often install self-cleaning fluid-filled soft belts in the rollers. Although the self-cleaning fluid helps to keep the roller conveyors clean, there is still a probability of some of the dirt and grease coming into contact with the belt. To overcome this problem, companies installing flexible roller conveyors often install vacuum brushes on both the inside and outside of the belts to minimize the movement of the dirt and grease particles.

Another issue facing companies manufacturing flexible roller conveyors is that of the roller's operating speed. It must be noted that different types of conveyors are designed for different speeds. While some operate at fast speeds, others can only run at slow speeds. To compensate for this, manufacturers often install high quality steel rollers on the outside and inside of the conveyor for ensuring smooth operation.

The most popular type of flexible conveyor is the gravity conveyor. This type of flexible conveyor comes in two types - the double welded and the single welded roller types. The double welded roller type features reinforced welded construction and consists of two separate panels. The single welded conveyor is made up of a single panel.

The type of the roller used also affects the operating speed and its capacity. Higher capacity conveyors can carry heavier loads. Another factor affecting the operation of the roller is the level of lubrication. For instance, a low level of lubrication will reduce the roller's operating speed, while a high level will increase its speed. To meet all of your heavy duty manufacturing needs, it is best to consult an expert.
